herbal

Many early medicines consisted of preparations of leaves, flowers or other parts of plants or even of whole plants. In contrast to synthetic drugs or drugs extracted from plants, which are relatively pure and consistent, herbal preparations generally include numerous chemical compounds, some active, some inactive, and their efficacy and potency may differ by batch or other attributes. As with pharmaceutical preparations, interactions and side effects may accompany therapeutic effects.

Herbals: belladonna, betel, cannabis, Catha edulis, cava, coffee, ephedra, gingko, ginseng, marijuana, mushroom, oat straw, opium, peyote, St. John's wort, tobacco, valerian, wormwood
