When used to identify a category of disorders this term includes both Delirium and Dementia
as well as any other mental, emotional and behavioral manifestation of physical,
metabolic or toxic injury (Intoxication) to the central nervous system,
whether transient or persistent. When used to identify a syndrome,
it refers to a collection of symptoms usually
including: disorientation,
impaired memory, cognitive impairment, impaired judgment, and inappropriate affect
