BehaveNet® Clinical Capsule™:

Adlerian (Individual) Psychology: "Not me!" (sociopathy)

"Not me!" is shorthand for the fundamentally exploitive character-disordered (sociopathic) individual who engages in "intentional injury of others for [his] own advantage" (p. 411).  The criminal sees what life requires by way of cooperation, but acts as if it is for suckers, and not for him or her.  Such a person rationalizes the exemption from the common sense by thinking, for example, "I am too smart," "I am too special."  The sociopath says "Not me!" and operates against and at the expense of the community.*
