CBT: reinforcement
In behavior therapy this is the process
by which any stimulus (reinforcer) that immediately follows a response increases
the probability of that response occurring again.
- positive reinforcement: addition of a positive
stimulus following behavior, i.e., a reward
- negative reinforcement: termination of an aversive
stimulus following behavior, e.g., cessation of yelling
Also: appetitive
stimulus
