Potent 2D6 inhibitor.
NOT linear dosing (i.e., 20, 30, 40 mg).
Inhibits own metabolism.
Least selective over acetylcholine, thus some mild anticholinergic side effects.
FDA label in USA for depression, panic and OCD.
Washout can be too rapid with withdrawal effects, especially movement disorders, akathisia, dystonia, restlessness, and GI symptoms plus dizziness.
Generally well tolerated in panic.
Consider for mixed anxiety depression.
Consider avoiding in patients with hypersomnia, retardation, insomniacs, or those who wish to avoid sexual dysfunction.
