In a crisis [Greek krisis, a turning point] situation, the internal and
external adaptation (adaptability) of
an individual or a system is
disturbed. When previously successful adaptive mechanisms are insufficient to preserve stability or
balance, new skills and a corresponding internal restructuring become necessary.*
