Relational balances are a series of polarities that allow the characteristic
problems and patterns of dyadic relationships to be brought into focus. Both partners
contribute in different ways to these polarities. Important polarities in dyadic
relationships include: moment-duration, difference-sameness, satisfaction-frustration,
stimulation-stabilization, and closeness-distance.*
