-'a person who has recourse to someone's services, in return for
payment'. This term is not used exclusively in business relationships. It is
currently used in the social services and in psychotherapy: it has a more interactive
and less medical connotation than patient, (a person who suffers or
receives treatment, with a certain passivity).*
