pharmacology: efficacy

This is the measure of the extent to which a drug achieves a desired therapeutic effect. For example an anxiolytic drug that reduces anxiety by half provides more efficacy or effectiveness (is more efficacious) than a drug that only reduces anxiety by ten percent.
