Contingency Fee for Prior Authorization of Drug
Everybody hates having to obtain prior authorization for prescriptions, but especially clinicians who do the work for free. Since they make money by selling the drug, I propose the pharmacy pay the clinician a percentage, say 30%, if the payer approves reimbursement.
Plaintiffs’ lawyers get contingency fees when they win a case, nothing if they lose. Why not apply the same principle to prior authorization? Give the clinician a financial incentive to get that approval, and make the patient happy, too.
