DEA Spins Take-Back

When DEA tells you they collected “Record-Setting Amount of Meds” with their “take-back” program they want you to believe this proves victory in the “war on drugs,” but I believe it proves continued defeat.

More drugs taken back suggests more drugs in medicine cabinets. DEA may know the quantity of unused drugs collected; they do not know how many drugs remain in those cabinets, and elsewhere. I suspect the proportion of drugs turned in has changed but little, and the amount collected suggests even larger amounts remain, not to mention the fact that they fail to address the ever increasing amounts of heroin and other non-prescription drugs still out there.

We should admit that restrictive drug policy now, like prohibition in the past, causes harm rather than benefit.
