family typologies/dimensions

A typology is an approach to classification or diagnosis in which distinctive, preferably mutually exclusive, patterns, groups, or types are identified. Typological approaches to classification contrast with dimensional approaches, but mixed models combining both typological and dimensional principles have also been attempted.
