personality (Gestalt glossary)

- see Ego. The personality function of the self is the way the client represents her/himself using words, the self image by which s/he recognises him/herself. It therefore has the function of integrating experience, which is the basis of the sense of identity, into a reality of its own. It is particularly evident at the end of the contact cycle, when the current experience is ending, at the moment of withdrawal, (assimilating the experience which will enrich my personality).
