semantics

-the method developed by Alfred Korzybaski (1993) to move beyond Aristotelian, binary thinking (i.e. a thing is or is not, - the so-called principle of the excluded third). Korzybski insists on the difference between experience (which has a multi-valued polysemous orientation) and language, (which has a two-valued orientation): the word is not the thing, 'the map is not the territory'. Perls and Goodman both collaborated at length with Korzybski.
