grammatical factor

Stuttering is sometimes related to the grammatical parts of speech being produced. Adults tend to stutter more on the content words: nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives. Children often experience difficulty with function words such as conjunctions and pronouns. Although the exact nature of the relationship is not certain, the grammatical factors probably interact with other linguistic features such as word length, sentence length or position of the word in the sentence.
