learning theory
The knowledge we have of the processes of learning. Any of a variety of theories, based on data from experiments involving operant and classical conditioning, which have been demonstrated to change the frequency, speed and magnitude of responding. Many theorists believe that the onset, development and maintenance of stuttering, as well as treatment, depends either totally, or at least in part, on learning.
