DEA agents. Special Agent Starling tells D.C. Police Officer Bolton, “DEA and ATF, in addition to backing me up, are here for the drugs and weapons. You’re here because our mayor wants to appear tough on drugs, especially after his own cocaine conviction...”
”Across the street, ground floor, is the meth lab... DEA hits the back...” (0:05)

Television coverage of funeral: “This ill-fated drug raid... Agent Starling attained some measure of celebrity 10 years ago when she was given information by Dr. Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter...” (0:11)

FBI Agent Pearsall introduces “John Eldridge from DEA...” (0:12)

Starling asks Verger, “Had you ever seen Dr. Lecter before the court assigned him to you for therapy?”
”We met conventionally, as doctor and patient...”
Lecter (in flashback): “Would you like a popper?”
Lecter pops open a vial, and Verger snorts it.

By telephone Starling tells Pazzi, “I’m confused...” (1:09)

Lecter tells Pazzi, “I’m giving very serious thought to eating your wife.”
Lecter renders Pazzi unconscious by administering a volatile general anesthetic he previously squirted on a handkerchief.”
He tells Pazzi, now bound and gagged, “Oh, you’re confused. Oh, please don’t be confused because I may have to fillet Signora Pazzi after all.”
