His son Saburo tells Great Lord Hidetora, “Either you are senile or mad.”

Hidetora: ”What madness have I spoken? Wherein lies my senility?”
Saburo: “That makes you... a senile old fool.” (0:17)

Saburo tells Hidetora’s servant, “Tango, you’re an idiot.” (0:21)

His wife Kaede, referring to her father and brothers, tells Taro: ”Hidetora murdered them... Right there, my mother took her own life.” (0:37)

Apparently by agreement two women stab each other and die. Another prepares to kill herself. (1:03)

His general Kurogane tells Jiro, referring to Hidetora, “He’ll commit seppuku.” (1:08)

Tango asks jester Kyoami, referring to Hidetora, “Is he mad?”
Kyoami: “In a mad world, only the mad are sane.”
Hidetora appears to hallucinate. (1:16)

Kyoami tells Tango, referring to Hidetora, “He is better off mad.” (1:20)

Taro’s brother Jiro tells Kaede of her husband’s death. (1:26)

Kaede tells Taro, “They say your father has gone mad.” (1:30)

Ronin Ikoma tells Tango, “Madness saved Hidetora.” (1:41)

Kyoami tells Tango, referring to Hidetora, “On that point he’s sane.” (1:42)

Kyoami, referring to Hidetora, “Why stay with this mad old man?” (1:45)

Kaede tells Jiro, “Your mistake was to spare Hidetora, mad or not.” (2:02)

Kyoami tells Hidetora, referring to life, “If you’re tired of it, jump.”
Hidetora jumps, but Kyoami finds him unhurt. (2:04)

Kurogane asks Jiro, “Are you mad?” (2:14)

Hidetora tells Saburo, “Give me poison to drink. I’ll swallow it gladly.” (2:20)

Hidetora realizes Saburo is dead and grieves: “Are you gone forever?”
”Senile old fool.”
When Hidetora too has died Kyoami grieves. (2:28)
