mystification
As defined by Laing, mystification is the "misdefinition of the issues" (1969a, p. 27). It means "both the act of mystification and the state of being mystified." To mystify in the active sense is "to befuddle, cloud, obscure, mask whatever is going on, whether this experience, action, or process, or whatever is 'the issue'" (1965, p. 344).
