parent counseling

Involves establishing a personalized relationship between the parent(s) and the clinician to enable the latter to influence the home environment and particularly the feelings, habits and policies of the parents as regards the child, so as to diminish anxiety-provoking environmental conditions as much as possible. Since parental attitudes can be the cause or part of the cause of the child's stuttering and a healthy emotional atmosphere in the home is desirable in stuttering therapy, wise and effective parents' counseling is important.
