primary care physician
A physician [or other provider] who is in some sense a generalist, such as a family practitioner, pediatrician, or general internist. While these physicians deal with the entire person, subspecialist physicians deal only with single body systems - eyes, bones, or skin - or with specific diseases - allergies, diabetes, or heart disease.
