structural family therapy

This directive method of family therapy was developed by Minuchin and his associates. It is based upon a normative concept of a healthy family. Particular emphasis is placed upon the boundaries between family subsystems and the establishment and maintenance of a clear hierarchy based on parental competence to decide all matters that relate to the family.
