Taliban Likes FDA

With the likes of FDA's Margaret A. Hamburg and DEA's Michele Leonhart, who needs terrorists like Osama Bin Laden?

You probably already know that increasing restriction of pharmaceutical opiates, like moving hydrocodone from Schedule 3 to Schedule 2 as recommended recently by FDA, leads to increased demand for and increases in the price and profitability of arguably more dangerous heroin on the street. I learned yesterday from this piece on NPR that those profits ultimately help fund the Taliban in Afghanistan where farmers struggle to make a decent living growing opium poppies.

The Peter, Paul & Mary song asks, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" These flowers, or at least the drugs made from them, have "gone to young men [and women] everyone."

"When will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn?" that restrictive drug policy does more harm than good.
