undifferentiated family ego mass/emotional stuck-togetherness/lack of differentiation

Undifferentiated family ego mass is a concept introduced by Murray Bowen to describe "a conglomerate emotional oneness that exists in all levels of intensity" (1966, p. 355). "On one level each family member is an individual, but on a deeper level, the central family group is as one" (1961, p. 45).
