Is your doctor acting?

Forums and blogs, even the news, tell of physician suicides, burnout and disruptive conduct. Physicians express anger, dismay and frustration with their work. Yet all I see in the hospital doctors lounge seem happy, at least on the surface. This disconnect leads me to wonder what would make them put on such an act.

My theory: If a physician wants a busy practice she must appear successful. If she appears unhappy it may indicate failure.

Another possible explanation: Your physician does not want to burden patients with the problems in his profession.

Are you sure your physician should not be up for an Oscar?

Do you want to know how your physician really feels about medical practice in the age of Obamacare? How would you want her to inform you? Discussion during a visit? Twitter? Facebook? Blog?
